Sage Tools Book Plough
Used alongside a bookbinder’s finishing press, the Sage Tools Book Plough allows the binder to trim sewn volumes accurately and squarely. Accompanies the Sage Tools Combination Finishing Press to provide guidance and resistance, ensuring smooth, controlled cuts along the full length of the book. Built from hard maple, steel, and acetal resin, this tool is made for long-term, dependable use.
The stainless steel hardware can withstand vice-like turning and compression forces, and will withstand rust and corrosion. The comfortable hexagonal hard maple handle screw turns to advance the blade and serves a dual function, providing a place to push and pull the plough to make your cuts.
Each face of the plough measures 4 inches tall by 10 inches wide by 2 inches deep (4” x 10” x 2” or 10.1cm x 25.4cm x 5.0cm).
The operating handle and screw are 17 inches long (17” or 43.2cm). The handle is 6 ½ inches long with an inset 12 inch ACME 1”-5 lead screw (6.5” or 16.5cm, 12” or 30.5cm, 2.5cm-5).
Assembled, the unit is 4 inches tall by 10 inches wide by 17 inches deep (4” x 10” x 17” or 10.1cm x 25.4cm x 43.2cm)
The Sage Tools Book Plough has a maximum operating width of 4 ½ inches (4.5” or 11.4cm) to accommodate even the thickest tomes.
Our proprietary tool steel dovetail plough blade boasts two razor thin 25° bevels to cut on the forward and reverse strokes, prolonging your blade’s edge.
