Sage Tools Combination Finishing Press
This versatile combination finishing press is crafted for the devoted bookbinder who values precision and tradition. Large 45° bevels provide ample area to rest your cover materials safely while working on the spine of your book. The press can be inverted to function with our Sage Tools Book Plough, allowing you to trim edges with the same care and control you use when pressing. Whether pressing, finishing, or trimming, this press brings craftsmanship, elegance, and thoughtful functionality to every step of your bookbinding process. The stainless steel hardware can withstand any vice-like turning and compression forces you throw at it, and will withstand rust and corrosion. The two comfortable hard maple vice head screws turn together to advance the press face. Each lead screw is captured by the front press face, advancing the opposing face automatically when turned. Built from hard maple, steel, and acetal resin, this tool is made for long-term, dependable use.
Each face of the press measures 5 inches tall by 24 inches wide by 3 inches deep (5” x 24” x 3” or 12.7cm x 60.9cm x 7.6cm).
The vice head and screw are 13.5 inches long (13.5” or 34.3cm). The vice head handle is 2 ½ inches long with an inset 12 inch ACME 1”-5 lead screw (2.5” or 6.3cm, 12” or 30.5cm, 2.5cm-5).
Assembled, the unit is 5 inches tall by 24 inches wide by 13.5 inches deep (5” x 23” x 13.5” or 12.7cm x 60.9cm x 34.3cm)
The Sage Tools Book Plough has a maximum opening depth of 5 inches (5” or 12.7cm) to accommodate even the thickest tomes. It’s maximum working width is 14 inches, with roughly 19 inches of open area between the two screws (14” or 35.5cm, 19” or 48.2cm).
