Sage Tools Combination Finishing Press & Plough
Our signature Finishing Press and Plough together as a set. Two great tastes that taste great together. This listing does NOT include the Basin.
This versatile combination finishing press is crafted for the devoted bookbinder who values precision and tradition. Large 45° bevels provide ample area to rest your cover materials safely while working on the spine of your book. The press can be inverted to function with our Sage Tools Book Plough, allowing you to trim edges with the same care and control you use when pressing. Whether pressing, finishing, or trimming, this press brings craftsmanship, elegance, and thoughtful functionality to every step of your bookbinding process.
The stainless steel hardware can withstand any vice-like turning and compression forces you throw at it, and will withstand rust and corrosion. The two comfortable hard maple vice head screws turn together to advance the press face. Each lead screw is captured by the front press face, advancing the opposing face automatically when turned. Built from hard maple, steel, and acetal resin, this tool is made for long-term, dependable use.
Used alongside a bookbinder’s finishing press, the Sage Tools Book Plough allows the binder to trim sewn volumes accurately and squarely. Accompanies the Sage Tools Combination Finishing Press to provide guidance and resistance, ensuring smooth, controlled cuts along the full length of the book. Built from hard maple, steel, and acetal resin, this tool is made for long-term, dependable use.
